Reliance Petro to raise Jamnagar refinery capacity

Reliance Petroleum Ltd plans to raise the capacity at its Jamnagar refinery to 590,000 barrels per day in 2001 from the current 540,000, a company official said on Thursday.

"Debottlenecking for 590,000 barrels per day has been done. We are making operational changes such as hooking up equipment for processing heavy crude," the official said.

He said Reliance will set up facilities for storage and chemical dosing to remove contaminants from heavy crude.

"All this will be done in 2001 before December."
