Maruti hikes car prices of all models

Maruti 800, the largest-selling Indian car, will cost Rs 2,180 more, while the prices of Zen base model has been increased by Rs 4,157, Alto by Rs 7,640, Esteem by Rs 5,172, and Baleno by Rs 12,271.

"We have effected a nominal price increase between 0.3 per cent and 2.5 per cent on its various models with immediate effect," Maruti Udyog Ltd said in a statement on Wednesday.

Maruti 800 EX model will cost Rs 3,224 more, while Omni flat (E) will be dearer by Rs 2,374.

The price of Zen Diesel will be up by Rs 6,224.

Esteem VX MPI will cost Rs 10,225 more and the price of Wagon R base model will go up by Rs 1,177. Wagon R LX will cost Rs 6,205 more, while ALTO VX will be dearer by Rs 7,707.

The company said that the price increase was being effected because of the increase in the cost of production, raw material and other inputs during the last quarter. "Depreciation of the rupee has also impacted the cost," the company said.

The new ex-showroom prices (with old prices in bracket) in Delhi are as follows:
