After receiving payment for its November bill in seven installments, Enron-promoted Dabhol Power Company (DPC) is now waiting for cash-strapped Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) to cough up Rs 1.52 billion for settling its December bill.

"The payment by MSEB of the overdue November bill is a step in the right direction, as we look forward to discussions with the review committee as well as a quick payment of the overdue December bill," DPC said in a statement in Bombay on Tuesday.

When contacted, MSEB sources said the board has time till February 25 and 'a way will be found to pay the bill before the stipulated date'.

DPC has also sent MSEB bill for the month of January 2001 amounting to Rs 1.12 billion, sources said.

On Monday, MSEB paid the last installment of Rs 740 million towards DPC's Rs 1.48 billion November bill.

Meanwhile, the government-appointed review committee headed by Madhav Godbole would hold its first meeting tomorrow to review the entire power scenario in the state with special emphasis on DPC's,184-mw project at Dabhol.
