Hinduja Foundation comes to the rescue of quake-affectedThe Hinduja Foundation has rolled out its initial contribution of Rs 50 million to fund initiatives to provide quick relief and begin rehabilitation of the earthquake affected victims in Gujarat. Teams of doctors from the P D Hinduja National Hospital are currently attending to needy patients in the worst affected areas of Bhachau in Kutch. The Hinduja Foundation along with the P D Hinduja National Hospital, Bombay, have also created a 50-bedded special hospital within the Hinduja Hospital, to attend to quake victims who are in need of tertiary care and major surgeries. The treatment is free. The Hinduja doctors are attending to hundreds of patients everyday in the Kutch region. This camp operated by the Hinduja Hospital doctors has been operational since January 27. Small teams have also gone to neighbouring interior villages for treatment and providing first aid. Doctors, nurses, paramedics are working almost round the clock. Fascel (Celforce), the leading cellular mobile service operator in Gujarat, an associate company of the Hinduja Group, has helped in re-establishing communication network in the quake affected areas. Fascel has also provided the team of doctors from Hindujas with a free mobile service so that they can be easily contacted during this critical period. The immediate medical efforts and the corpus of Rs 50 million is a beginning, the Hinduja Foundation is in the process of formalising and implementing other short-term and long-term relief and rehabilitation projects in the quake affected areas. |
