UTI irregularities an inheritance from the past: Advani

Union Home Minister L K Advani said on Saturday that it was not proper to term the irregularities in the investments of the Unit Trust of India as a 'scam'.

At a function in Lucknow, Advani said that the Union Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha had "inherited the irregularities being committed over the years".

He said that Sinha was just unfortunate to have been at the helm of affairs when the effect of the accumulated irregularities surfaced.

The Joint Parliamentary Committee would look into these irregularities, Advani said emphasising that the BJP had always stood for suchita (purity) in administration.
