Software exports at $6.2 billion, says Nasscom

India's leading software body said on Tuesday that the country's 2000-01 software exports totalled $6.2 billion, in line with expectations.

The National Association of Software Services Companies said in a statement that it expected software exports in 2001-02 to be between $8.5-9.0 billion.

That was revised down from the software body's January forecast that software exports during 2001-02 (April-March) would jump to $9.4 billion from $6.2 billion in the previous year.

On Sunday, Nasscom lowered its software export growth forecast for the current fiscal year to 40-45 per cent from 52 per cent, citing the economic slowdown in the key US market.
