FIR lodged against Indian Oil Corporation

The officer-in-charge of Tiyar police station has lodged an FIR against the Indian Oil Corporation management, charging it with neglect in maintaining the Barauni-Kanpur pipeline which was responsible for the fire at Sikariyan Railway Halt in Bhojpur district last Thursday, a senior police official said.

The fire, which broke out in the morning, had caused injury to two villagers besides causing damage to government and private properties.

The deputy superintendent of police, Jagdishpur, Ram Nath Prasad Gupta, under whose jurisdiction the police station and place of the fire fall, said on Tuesday that FIR under different sections of the IPC had been filed against the IOC management and some other persons.

A list of officials responsible for maintaining the pipeline between Bihiyan and Buxar too had been sought, Gupta said.
