 Recon HealthCare announces acquisition of 20% equity of German Remedies from shareholders
 DSP Merrill Lynch Ltd on behalf of Recon Health Care Ltd has informed BSE that it is making an offer to the public shareholders of German Remedies Ltd (GRL) to acquire upto 16,49,179 fully paid up equity shares representing 20% of the outstanding equity share capital of GRL at a price of Rs 650 per share.
The Specified date is April 14, 2001. The offer opens on May 21, 2001 and the offer closes on June 19, 2001.

 Rhone-Poulenc approves merger with Nicholas Piramal
 Rhone-Poulenc Ltd has informed BSE that the Board of Directors at its meeting held today (April 16, 2001) has approved the merger the Rhone-Poulenc (India) Ltd. with Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. The merger will be effective from April 1, 2001.
Pursuant to the Scheme, 60% paid up capital of Rhone-Poulenc (India) Ltd held by NPIL Fininvest Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of Nicholas Piramal India Ltd along with the debt raised for acquiring the said shares will get transferred to Nicholas Piramal India Ltd and consequently these shares will get extinguished on merger becoming effective.
The holders of balance 40% share capital of Rhone-Poulenc (India) Ltd will get Seven (7) equity shares of Nicholas Piramal India Ltd in exchange of Four (4) equity shares held in Rhone-Poulenc (India) Ltd. This will result in increase in share capital of Nicholas Piramal India Ltd by Rs 31.50 million.

 Kopran clarifies on news item
 With reference to the news article " Kopran joins the Ketan Parekh lender list" appearing in a leading financial daily stated, Kopran Ltd has informed BSE that the Company has had no transaction regarding lending of any money to Parekh's broking firm Classic Credit & Stock Brokers. The Company has clarified that it has had no transaction with Ketan Parekh group of Companies except for ICD transactions.
The Company has further stated that Certain Short Term ICD's were given and were received back except one cheque which was dishonoured. The Company has initiated appropriate action to recover the funds.
The Company reiterated that the Company and its promoters at no time have had any dealing with Mr Ketan Parekh and/or his companies in any share transactions.

 Mukta Arts Q1 net profit at Rs 16.90 million
 Mukta Arts Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 16.90 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2001. Net sales for the quarter ended March 31, 2001 stood at Rs 19.49 million. Other income for MQ 2001 stood at Rs 13.70 million.
The Company has not given the figures of the previous periods since the requirement of quarterly figures has arisen from September 2000 as the Company has been listed since September 13, 2000.

 Nicholas Piramal approves amalgamation of Rhone- Poulenc & Super Pharma
 Nicholas Piramal India Ltd has informed BSE that the Board of Directors at its meeting held today (April 16, 2001) has approved the merger of Rhone-Poulenc (India) Ltd. with Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. The merger will be effective from April 1, 2001.
Pursuant to the Scheme, 60% paid up capital of Rhone-Poulenc (India) Ltd held by NPIL Finivest Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. along with the debt raised for acquiring the said shares will get transferred to Nicholas Piramal India Ltd and consequently these shares will get extinguished becoming effective.

While considering the above the Board of Directors of Nicholas Piramal India Ltd has also decided to merge Super Pharma Ltd a Distributor Company which was recently acquired by Nicholas Piramal India Ltd (NPIL).This will enable NPIL to reduce the cost of distribution and also improve working capital management. Being a 100% subsidiary, there will be no fresh issue of shares by Nicholas Piramal India Ltd for Super Pharma merger.

 MTNL Q4 results on April 25, 2001.
 A meeting of the Board of Directors of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2001 in New Delhi to inter-alia, consider and take on record the Unaudited Financial Results (Provisional) of the Company for the quarter ended March 31, 2001.

 ICICI Bank FY-01 results on April 26, 2001
 ICICI Bank Ltd has informed BSE that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the bank is scheduled to be held on Thursday, April 26,2001 to consider and take on record the audited annual accounts and recommend dividend, if any, on equity shares of the Bank for the year ended on March 31, 2001.

 TVS Electronics Board approves amalgamation of subsidiary
 The Board of Directors of TVS Electronics Ltd at its meeting held on April 12, 2001 has approved a proposal for amalgamation of its wholly owned subsidiary ICL Foundries Ltd with the company subject to the approval of shareholders and the Hon'ble High Court of Madras.

 Morepen Lab Q4 net up by 17.48%, FY-01 net up by 43.82%
 Morepen Laboratories Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 200.90 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2001 as compared to Rs 171 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2000. Total Income for the quarter ended March 31, 2001 is at Rs 1143.90 million as compared to Rs 924 million for MQ 00.
The net profit for the year ended March 31, 2001 is at Rs 732.50 million as compared to Rs 509.30 million in the previous financial year. Total Income for the year ended March 31, 2001 is up 31.71% as compared to FY-00. Total Income for the March 31, 2001 is at Rs 4381.90 million as compared to Rs 3326.70 million in the financial year ended March 31, 2000.
The Company has reissued 17000 Equity Shares of Rs 2/- each from the forfeiture Account to its Employees.

 Shareholders of Glaxo approve amalgamation of SmithKline Beecham Pharma
 Glaxo India Ltd has informed BSE that at the meeting of the Equity Shareholders of the Company convened as per the directions of the Bombay High Court held on April 12, 2001 and on poll 99.687% of the shareholders present in person/proxy approved the Scheme of Arrangement for the amalgamation of SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals (India) Ltd. with the company.

 Novartis to publish audited financial results of FY-01 by June 30, 2001
 Novartis India Ltd has informed BSE that the company will publish audited accounts for the financial year ended March 31,2001 within three months of the end of the financial year.
Accordingly, the company shall not publish the Unaudited Financial Results (Provisional) for the quarter ended March 31, 2001.

 BSE imposes special margin on Grasim
 BSE has imposed a special margin of 25% per share on the scrip of Grasim Industries Ltd with effect from today,(April 16, 2001).

 HDFC to consider increase in FII stake

 Kesoram results on April 23; to mull mergers with 3 companies
 Kesoram Industries Ltd has informed BSE that the meeting of the Board of Directors of the company is scheduled to be held on April 23, 2001 to adopt the annual accounts of the Company for the year ended March 31, 2001.
At the aforesaid meeting, the Board will consider recommendation of dividend on the ordinary and preference shares for the year ended March 31, 2001. The Board of Directors of the Company will also consider the feasibility of merger/amalgamation of the following Companies with the Company:

 Govt of Singapore holding in Infosys Technologies crosses 5%
 In a communication to BSE Infosys Technologies Ltd has informed BSE that the company has received a disclosure from Deutsche Bank AG, Custodian for the Government of Singapore stating that the Govt of Singapore holds 5.48% of the paid up capital of the company as on April 12, 2001.
The aforesaid disclosure is made in compliance with Clause 7(3) of the SEBI(Substantial Acquisition of Shares and Takeovers) Regulation 1997.

 Sonata Software allots shares to Franklin Templeton on preferential basis
 Sonata Software Ltd has informed BSE that at the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Company held on April 14, 2001, the Board of Directors has allotted 51,52,506 equity shares of the Company to Franklin Templeton Holding Ltd, Mauritius. The said allotment of the shares has been done at a price of Rs 53.40 per share.

 Aksh Optifibre Q4 net profit at Rs 130.86 million, FY-01 net profit at Rs 191.21 million
 Aksh Optifibre Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 130.86 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2001 as against Rs 44.34 million in the corresponding quarter previous year. Net Sales for the current quarter stood at Rs 534.76 million as compared to Rs 457.38 million in the same quarter previous year. Other income has increased to Rs 10.09 million in MQ 2001 from Rs 2.17 million in MQ 2000.
The Company has posted a net profit of Rs 191.21 million for the year ended March 31, 2001 as compared to Rs 53.35 million in the previous fiscal. Net sales have increased to Rs 1273.56 million in FY 2001 from Rs 883.73 million in FY 2000. Other income for the year ended March 31, 2001 increased by 19.19%, at Rs 23.64 million as against Rs 19.83 million in the last fiscal.
The Board of Directors of the Company has declared a final dividend of Rs 1/- per equity share.
The figures for the current quarter and the year ended March 31, 2001 are after merger of Telcords (India) Pvt. Ltd with effect from April 1, 2000. The figures of the year ended March 31, 2000 are not comparable since it includes the results for the PVC Unit of the company, which has been hived off on July 1, 1999.

 BSE imposes AVM on 97 scrips
 BSE has imposed Additional Volatility Margin (AVM) on the undermentioned scrips for the settlement No. 004/2001-2002 with effect from today, April 16,2001. AVM would be computed on the net outstanding Purchase or Sales position as may be applicable including carryforward positions at the end of day at the rate given below.
