Nasscom meets to discuss Dewang's successorBS ICE Bureau National Association of Software and Services Companies held its executive council meeting to discuss various issues including the selection process for finding a successor to its late president Dewang Mehta, who was cremated in New Delhi on Sunday. One of the Nasscom committee members said that there was a bunch of issues discussed and one of them was finding a successor to Mehta. "There was a general discussion on it, but nothing concrete has emerged," he said. The member also added that other important issues like slowdown in the Indian IT industry too came up for discussion and Nasscom was likely to come out with a formal statement sometime next week. When asked whether Mehta's successor would be a professional from outside or somebody from Nasscom, the member refused to divulge any details saying, "we are still studying every aspect." However, IT industry observers indicated that the country head of a Delhi-based IT software company with affiliation to a US-based conglomerate, may succeed Mehta. Phiroz Vandrewala, chairman, Nasscom, however, ruled out any immediate decision on the selection of a successor to Mehta saying Sunday's agenda was to draw a selection process for the post and building up the organisation in the wake of Mehta's death. Sunday's meeting was chaired by Vandrewala and was attended by other council members, including Infosys chief Narayan Murthy, Harish Mehta, Aptech's Atul Nishar, Hughes Software System's Arun Kumar, Anil Kide and N Ramini. Nasscom, has an affiliation of 700 companies and is likely to enroll another 100 companies by the end of this year, Nasscom sources said. ALSO READ:
