DGAD moots anti-dumping duty against EU

The anti-dumping authority has recommended anti-dumping duty against imports of industrial chemical sodium ferrocyanide from the European Union, while the Department of Revenue has notified imposition of provisional duties against imports of Analgin, high styrene resin, zinc oxide and lead acid batteries.

The Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties, under the ministry of commerce and industry, recommended anti-dumping duty of $1,535 per metric tonne on all imports of the industrial chemical from EU.

The DGAD has thereby confirmed its earlier preliminary findings brought out in January this year.

DGAD had conducted an investigation for the period January-December 1999 on imports of sodium ferrocyanide, used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry from the EU on the basis of a petition filed by Bombay-based Cyanide and Chemical Co.

Meanwhile, the Department of Revenue has issued a notification for the imposition of provisional anti-dumping duties on imports of four products based on the recommendations of the DGAD.

The provisional anti-dumping duty imposed is equivalent to the difference between the amount of $9.778 per kg on all imports of Analgin from China and a duty of $9.875 per kg on all such imports from Taiwan, and their landed value.

The provisional anti-dumping duty imposed under the notification would be effective up to October 8.
