Rourkela Steel MD and Vizag Steel ED suspendedImran Khan in Bhubaneswar The public sector Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) managing director R C Jha and executive director of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) have been suspended by the union steel ministry on Thursday. According to a release from the Union Steel industry, RSP managing director Jha and VSP executive director Singh have been placed under suspension for their lapses which allegedly caused a loss of over Rs 1 billion due to premature breakdown of coke oven batteries at VSP. The Steel Ministry further said that the Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) in addition to suspending these two officers has also advised initiating major penalty proceedings against 10 serving officers found responsible in this case. The matter is being handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). |
