B P Verma hospitalised; one more arrestedOnkar Singh in New Delhi The former director of Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) B P Verma has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Safdarjung Hospital for medical check up. On Monday, he had collapsed in the court while the special magistrate Paramjit Singh was hearing the CBI application for remand of Verma, his son Siddarth and Bhavana Pandey - who allegedly got favours from Verma in matters relating to postings and transfers. Verma, according to the CBI sources, used Pandey as a cover to make money. The magistrate had asked the CBI to get Verma and others medically examined before taking them in police custody. "He has been admitted for check up," S M Khan, spokesman for CBI, told rediff.com. Meanwhile, Vijay Pratap, who acted as a middleman between Verma and A K Enterprises of Madras, was picked up by the CBI men from his residence in Madras and was brought to Delhi for interrogation by air on Tuesday morning. Vijay Pratap was produced before special judge M L Sahni and he was remanded to four days of police custody. All the accused will now be produced on April 7. Another accused Shravan Kumar who had been arrested in the same case is being brought to Delhi by train. The CBI sources said that the interrogation of all the five accused would now begin.
