Ways India to set up Brokat's first competency centre

Ways India Ltd, an m-commerce focussed company pioneering the provision of technology infrastructure and platform independent solutions for the Internet and mobile economy, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Asia-Pacific arm of German technology leader Brokat Infosystems AG, to establish in India, Brokat's first competency centre in the world.

Ways India is the exclusive Indian partner of Brokat Infosystems AG, the world's leading provider of secure customer focussed e-business solutions and the leader in the Internet Banking segments.

The company will also introduce in India Brokat's leading product "Twister" which is a modular e-services platform that provides secure links to various channels including Internet and mobile communications.

The Brokat competency centre established by Ways India, will focus on: Building on specific advantages of Ways India; Leveraging India-centric advantages and emerging opportunities in the areas of remote processing technologies; and Offering Brokat a competent group of certified and trained personnel with flexible utilisation approach including product and market development, and rapid deployment across various customer engagement platforms, starting with the 'Twister' product.

The Brokat competency centre set up by Ways India will have a unique operating model with one Indian hub and three overseas centres located at Singapore, London/Stuttgart and Boston/Silicon Valley. The central hub in India will ensure significant competency cross-fertilisation across the overseas centres and will co-ordinate enquiry handling, quick learning and knowledge transfer throughout the organisation.

Additionally, the overseas centres will handle specific customisation, implementation and training needs for the relevant Brokat suite of products in their respective regions.

The Brokat competency centre will be a repository of skills and capabilities. All centres will staff professionals comprising project leaders and programmer analysts with strong backgrounds in software development and project implementation combined with relevant industry and domain knowledge.

The staff at all centres will be intensively imparted with skills, expertise and certification across the Brokat suite of products. Dedicated teams that specialise in distinct products will be created to offer high level of value addition to Brokat's global clients.

According to Miyuki Suzuki, managing director of Brokat Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore, "The establishment of Brokat's first competency centre in the world in partnership with Ways India is an extension of our existing relationship with the company. This will enable us to leverage India-centric advantages and will more importantly, create opportunities in the emerging areas of mobile commerce and related technologies."

Commenting on the establishment of the competency centre J Rajagopal, chief executive officer, Ways India, said: "We are delighted to be partnering with Brokat for setting up their first Competency Centre in the world.
