Court rejects MUL union plea

A Haryana Court has dismissed a Maruti Udyog Employees Union application challenging the condition of "good conduct" imposed by the management following a month-long stir.

The MUEU had moved the Gurgaon court for seeking quashing of the condition imposed on the employees by the MUL management.

Chief judicial magistrate L N Jindal, who heard the matter, however, rejected the application of MUEU challenging the condition.

The management of the auto giant had imposed a condition on its workers since October 12 requiring that the striking employees should sign a "good conduct" document giving it an assurance that they would not take part in any agitation in future.

The employees of MUL demanding better incentives and pension schemes had been agitating for nearly two months, hitting the production of the country's largest automaker.

A company spokesman said that about 1,400, of the over-4,000 agitating employees, have joined duty after signing the good conduct undertaking.

The company had achieved 100 per cent capacity utilisation and produced close to 7,200 vehicles in the first weekdays this month, he claimed.
