Speedera to set up centre in IndiaSpeedera Networks, a US-based provider of content delivery services and traffic management for the Internet said on Wednesday that it was setting up a major development centre in India. "India will be a major base for development activities for Speedera which, in conjunction with our Silicon Valley facilities, will provide the leading edge next generation technology," company president Ajit Gupta said. Speedera announced earlier this month that it was setting up a wholly-owned subsidiary, Speedera Networks India Limited. "The location for the new centre is yet to be identified. We will focus on developing critical pieces of technology to support our universal delivery network," Gupta said. He said Internet users in India were projected to grow to 30 million from the present two million by 2004. "Given the state of the telecom infrastructure in India, customer frustration levels are extremely high, which is costing e-businesses huge amounts of lost revenue," Gupta said. Every year in the United States companies lose about $4 billion due to slow access or because certain Web sites were unavailable, he said.
