Computer Associates, SimplySoft unveil Accpac Online

Computer Associates International Inc, the world's leading e-business solutions provider, and SimplySoft Technologies Ltd on Wednesday launched Accpac Online -- the application service provider version of SimplySoft's award-winning finance and accounting business solution for the small-to-medium size enterprises.

Accpac Online's secure, reliable ASP service provides a comprehensive and cost-effective accounting solution that requires a minimum of it administrative overhead.

For maximum available and reliability, Accpac Online is built upon a secure e-business foundation managed by technology from Ican-ASP Inc, a recently established independent subsidiary of CA focused on serving the unique infrastructure requirements of ASPs.

SimplySoft is a joint venture between CA and Pentasoft Technologies Ltd, one of the largest IT firms in India.

CA chairman Charles B Wang told mediapersons on Wednesday: "SMEs want to use the latest accounting software to improve their e-business efficiency, but do not necessarily want to make large investments in technical infrastructure and personnel. As an ASP service enabled by the powerful infrastructure technology of CA and Ican-ASP, Accpac Online gives these SMEs the opportunity to implement the same industry-leading accounting solutions used by their larger counterparts -- but with tremendous cost effectiveness and convenience."

In an ASP model, customers access applications remotely from a service provider's central data centre, typically renting them on a per-user, per-month basis. Market research firms have predicted that the size of this virtually untapped market will exceed $8 billion by 2004, Charles Wang added.
