The Indian arm of US firm Rational Software is expanding its local presence and is targeting higher sales growth in the coming months, the head of its Indian operations said on Wednesday.

"India is one of the biggest markets for us. We definitely want to grow here," M K Bharatee, country manager, Rational Software Corporation (India) Private Limited told reporters at a news conference in Bombay.

Bharatee did not elaborate on growth estimates.

The Indian unit recently opened an office in India's financial capital of Bombay to boost business. The Indian operations are headquartered in Bangalore.
