Here are readers' best photographs from the past year!
We invited readers to share their unique, original photographs from this past year with us -- here's the next set of responses!
First up we have this image from Kajal Arora, who says, "This pic was taken 10 days ago in Dili -- capital of East Timor, during my official visit to this beautiful country. I call this pic 'Life's Diamonds', as it shows how we as kids become like diamonds in the future."

The ethereal city

Next we have this one from Bhanu Shankar, who explains, "We went on a trip with MGV Academy students to Mysore and Madikeri during the last month of 2010. This shot was taken from Chamundi Hills. When the bus stopped on a sight-seeing tour of Mysore at 10 pm at night, I just felt like this was something for me to capture. Usually, night photographs don't turn out as good as those shot in the day. But I tried lengthening my exposure to capture the leafless tree with Mysore City in the background. Voila, it was a great shot for 2010! I call it 'Life in the Lifeless'."

Biju Krishnan sent in this amusing one, saying, "This was an experiment to create an illusion with sand in the background. It is a common photography trick and most of our readers might like to repeat this one on their trips."

Lightening strikes

And finally, we have this pic from Bangalore-based Clint Fernandez, who shot it when on assignment in Switzerland. "This picture took me a whole evening to click -- after all, one never knows where lightening will strike next," he says. "It's in Zurich, during a very rare thunderstorm in June. I call it Lightening Strike 166 -- 166 being the address of the apartment in the photo. I live in 156 on the same street."
