Valentine's Day could be the bully of all holidays if you're single. But there's no reason to fret says Meghana B. She chalks out this to-do list for all you single folks.

On February 14, there will be only two kinds of people -- those who are in a relationship and those who aren't.

Valentine's Day really is the bully of all holidays if you're single because while everyone around you is celebrating with her/his special someone you are left all by lonesome self.

Now, Valentine's Day is all about love. It's another matter that marketing geniuses have made it more about romance and less about love.

So don't let this marketing gimmick get in the way of your celebrating the holiday.

Think of it, love is about appreciating everything and everyone around you including yourself. Isn't it?

So start by loving yourself!

And rather than sulking around, go out there and have a blast!

Here's how you can do that:

Organise an all-singles' party

Ditched by all your couple friends?

It's time to get all the singles under one roof!

Throw a party for all your single friends and do it in the honour of love -- love for yourself and everything around you!

I quite like that line from the film Jab We Met: "Mein apni sabse favouitre hoon!"

Be your own favourite person. Because really, that's the one you'll be living with all your life.

Go on a vacation

Not with family or friends but rather on your own.

A little soul searching will not do any harm.

Choose a destination, make the booking, pack your bags and off you go!

"Few years ago when I was single, I went on all back-packing trip to Europe.

"Till date, that holiday has been the best ever.

"I met so many interesting people, learnt new things, discovered who I am and what I really wanted from life.

"All of this really helped me shape my future," recollects Shweta Dua.

Plan a movie or a play

There are at least a handful of good movies playing right about now.

Take some time out and make a plan to watch it with your friends.

When was the last time you watched a play?

Go check out the experimental theatre scene that almost always throws up some interesting plays.

There's something quite magical about the ringing of the final bell, the dimming of the lights and the actors stepping out on stage transporting you to another world altogether.

So don't sulk or work late this Valentine's Day. Head out and be entertained.

Appreciate the fact that you are blessed with great friends and spend a nice evening with them.

Check out the singles scene

There are many bars and groups in the city that organise an evening for singles only.

Don't shy away from these events.

You are sulking because you have no one to celebrate with, right?

So, why don't you take your chances by going out and meeting someone new?

Just go with the sole purpose of having a good time.

If nothing else, you might just make some new friends.

Now, that's not altogether very bad, is it?

Spread the love and joy

Leave extra tips.

Compliment bountifully

Say 'Thank you' to your watchman.

Give your domestic help the day off.

Call on an old friend or a relative.

Do something that will bring a smile on someone's face.

These little things will add up and boost your mood.

If you are still looking for motivation, remember that popular saying: What you give out, is what you get!

So, give out love and you will get love in return.
