Unusual summer pics: Cast away!

We invited you to send in unique summer-themed photographs -- odd scenes that are captured on a lens for posterity -- to share with other readers. Here are a few more responses!

First up we have this image from Sujit Basu, of a fisherman casting his net. It was shot on the banks of the river Ganga near Kolkata.

Next we have this pretty one from Dr Vivek Abraham Chaly of the Dubai skyline at twilight.

Abdul Wasif Shaikh of Pune sent in this striking shot of yellow blooms cascading down like a curtain.

"This photo was taken at a place near Coimbatore; the rainbow was seen over the trees during a summer drizzle," says Arun CK from Bangalore.

And finally, we have this image from Karthik Retna Pandian who explains, "This is the Krishna River from Srisailam Bridge. The water's flow is running thinner and thinner by the day. The river bed is almost dried up, with just a small stream of water flowing down from the dam."
