Ravinder Singh, best selling author of books like I Too Had A Love Story and Can Love Happen Twice? lists his all-time favourites. Read on

It is refreshing to talk about love -- it's a mood enhancer and specially if it takes the form of the written word

I came across an interesting quote that stated, "The first time you fall in love it changes your life forever, and no matter how hard you try, the feelin' never goes away. This girl you been tellin' me about was your first love. And no matter what you do, she'll stay with you forever."

These are my first loves. These books impart the tenderness and purity of first love.

1. Love Story

Love means not ever having to say you're sorry: Erich Segal

This book from Segal is a must read. I would recommend this book to everyone. It is a wonderful love story and one of my all time favourites.

Love Story shows us the amazing power of love. Brilliantly written, tragic tale.

When I finished it, I had tears in my eyes. The story revolves around a rich Oliver Barret IV and the love of his life, Jenny Cavilleri, a music major from Radcliffe.

Oliver is portrayed as an emotional and an athletic teenager, who hardly knows that his first acerbic encounter with Jenny, would turn into a deep emotional bond. A strange emotional bond that haunts, startles and waylays, not just Oliver Barret IV, but every single reader who steps into his shoes.

I finished reading it in a day. A book you would like to curl with on a nice lazy rainy day.

2. Oliver's Story

Erich Segal is a very good storyteller and you can see that in Oliver's Story, the sequel to the novel Love Story by Erich Segal.

Well written, touching and very romantic, this is my second favourite all time read.

In Oliver's Story, Oliver Barrett IV found his true soulmate when he met and fell in love with Jenny Cavilleri. Their love was magical, exhilarating...and though heartbreakingly brief, it was enough to last a lifetime. Or so, Oliver told himself.

Two years have passed since Jenny was taken from him, and Oliver truly believes he will never love again. Then one day, Marcie -- beautiful and mysterious -- enters his world...and suddenly the future holds a golden new promise.

This sequel to is a beautiful tale of one man's journey out of the lonely darkness of grief and back into love's warm embrace. (taken from the blurb)

3. A Walk to Remember

Image: A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks

A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks is an unforgettable account of a young, first love and the choices and steps a person will take to provide another with happiness.

It is a story of two teenagers who fall in love with each other despite having different personalities.

Nicholas Sparks has the perfect ability to build his characters that his readers can perfectly identify with.

4. The Notebook

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks is a heart rendering story about the enduring power of love, a story of miracles that will stay with you forever.

It  has stayed with me forever.

5. At First Sight

Image: At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks

The book At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks is character-driven, with characters that come to life and touch your soul.

I highly recommend reading this book and all of the other books by Sparks.

It is an easy read that should join Sparks' earlier novels.

6. Promise

Image: Promise by Danielle Steel

Read it, it's worth the time.

In Promise, author Danielle Steel tells the story of young architect Michael Hillyard and artist Nancy McAllister who are determined to get married despite his wealthy mother's disapproval.

Then, minutes before their wedding, a terrifying accident and a cruel deception separate Michael and Nancy -- perhaps, forever. Each pursues a new life -- Nancy in California, Michael in New York.

But eventually, nothing -- and no one -- can keep them apart as they keep their vow never to say good-bye.

7. Bared To You

Written by Sylvia Day, Bared To You is a new book and this is an erotic romance that should not be missed.

I loved the first half of this book. I couldn't put it down.

I thought the chemistry between its characters was portrayed fantastically.
