The search engine giant has featured the work of Gayatri Ketharaman to celebrate Children's Day
Keeping in with their traditional Children's Day celebratory doodle, Google has featured the work of an Indian student as their doodle of the day today.
Gayatri Ketharaman, a 15-year-old Class 10 student from Pune, won the fifth edition of the Doodle 4 Google competition whose theme was celebrating Indian women.
Ketharaman emerged victorious from among 12 national finalists who were selected from 1,50,000 students from across 1500 schools in India.
The theme for this year’s doodle celebrated the Indian woman and Ketharaman's work seemed to best represent that.
Her work was judged by a panel that included noted cartoonist Ajit Ninan along with actress Kirron Kher.
The young artist has depicted the multi-faceted personality of the Indian woman in her doodle.
"Each letter of the doodle depicts the trait of Indian women. She is graceful and elegant, adept at balancing work and home. She is a go-getter and also personifies motherhood," Ketharaman said explaining her doodle.
Although winners were chosen from all age groups, Gayatri Ketharaman's doodle was chosen as the overall winner and was featured on Google's home page.
However, Google awarded winners from each category as well by giving them the latest Chromebook laptops. (More about Google’s Chromebook here! )
Previous winners of the Doodle 4 Google competition have been third grader Varsha Gupta and ninth grader Arun Kumar Yadav.
