Vote: The hottest Miss Universe of the decade!

The Miss Universe pageant in Las Vegas last week saw yet another Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete crowned the winner for 2010.

She was undoubtedly the one that shone brighter than any of her fellow contestants, but here's a question -- would she have won if she were competing against last year's winner, Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez?

2010: Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete

This sexy 22-year-old managed to edge out 83 other beautiful women to land first place.

From the city of Guadalajara, Jimena has studied nutrition and is only the second-ever Mexican winner of the Miss Universe competition.

2009: Miss Venezuela Stefania Fernandez

At the age of 18, stunning Stefania took the Miss Universe crown back to Venezuela for the second year running from her predecessor, Miss Venezuela 2008 Dayana Mendoza.

The brown-haired, brown-eyed beauty made it to the Guiness Book of World Records for her win -- she was the first ever contestant to be crowned by a compatriot.

This green-eyed Venezuelan hit the big time in 2008, at the age of 22.

However, Dayana's crown had a close call when nude modelling pictures of her surfaced soon after she won the pageant.

Fortunately, the the Miss Universe Organization decided against any action, stating that the photographs were artistic and could not be categorised as pornographic.

2007: Miss Japan Riyo Mori

Dance instructor Riyo was the second-ever Japanese contestant to win the Miss Universe pageant, after a gap of nearly five decades.

Standing tall at 5'9", her soft features and athletic body saw her meet with success at the age of 21.

2006: Miss Puerto Rico Zuleyka Rivera

Sultry Zuleyka is one of the youngest women to have won the competition -- she was crowned at 18.

It would seem that her lovely brown hair and eyes charmed the judges, as did her smart answers in the question-and-answer round.

2005: Miss Canada Natalie Glebova

Born in Russia, gorgeous Glebova won the pageant in 2005 when competing from Canada, where she was residing at the time.

A classical pianist and professional gymnast, she also holds a BCom degree in Information Technology Management and Marketing. Not surpising that beauty and brains paved the way to the crown for her at the age of 23.

2004: Miss Australia Jennifer Hawkins

Former cheerleader and model Jennifer wowed the world with her delicious blonde appeal at the age of 20.

Now settled in Sydney, she continues to wow the fashion world and also made her way into television presenting.

2003: Miss Dominican Republic Amelia Vega

Towering at a tantalising 6'1", Amelia also won the Miss Universe pageant at the age of 18.

After the conclusion of her reign, she continued to model and is currently the host of a Mexican reality show. She has also dabbled in acting and owns a boutique in Miami, Florida.

2002: Miss Russia Oxana Fedorova

Now here's a slightly controversial entry to the list. This former police inspector and model won the competition in 2002, at the age of 24.

Oxana did not complete her reign, however -- it was rumoured that she resigned her crown mid-way because she was pregnant. She offered her education as a reason for resigning, stating that she wanted to finish studying law. She also added that she was insulted by treatment meted out to her on an American talk show.

With the Miss Universe Organisation dethroning her, the crown went to the first runner-up...

2002: Miss Panama Justine Pasek

Justine stepped into Oxana's shoes at the age of 23, three months after the pageant of 2002.

The first-ever runner-up of the pageant to claim the crown after the winner was de-throned, she was also Panama's first winner of the competition.

After a successful stint as Miss Universe, Justine saw a successful modelling career, working with big names like Christian Dior and is currently based out of Los Angeles.

2001: Miss Puerto Rico Denise Quinones

The only other country besides Venezuela to take top position twice within this decade, Puerto Rico had reason to be proud when the then 20-year-old Denise won in 2001.

After fulfilling her Miss Universe duties successfully, this prertty lady studied acting and is curently pursuing a career in entertainment.
