Gaurang Shah, Shravan Kumar and Vivek Kumar showcased the glory of Indian textiles on the runway Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2013.
Designers Gaurang Shah, Shravan Kumar and Vivek Kumar showcased their distinct designerwear as part of he Indian Textile Day at the Lakme Fashion Week.
Kirron Kher, Shriya Saran and adman Prahlad Kakkar dazzled the catwalk as celebrity showstoppers.
Shriya Saran stopped the show for Shravan Kumar in a printed lehenga, pink bustier and dupatta.

Gaurang Shah’s collection Stridhan that used the Patan Patola fabric. Considered auspicious, the Patola features bright colours and designs.

The show opened with a Gujarati song to the beat of a live band, models took to the ramp from the head of the ramp rather than the wings.

The double ikat Patolu sari takes few years to weave and sometimes costs a small fortune. Shah combined Patolu with Parsi Gara embroidery, Kanjeevaram borders, gotas and fabric textures to his designs.

All models walked the ramp with their heads covered with intricately embroidered or lined reversible dupattas.

Anarkalis, lehengas, shararas and ghagras some with over 10-12 metre flares formed part of the womenswear line.

Gaurang Shah also introduced traditional menswear outfits using the same fabric that featured sherwani, dhoti, kurta and a turban made out of five-and-a-half metres of fabric.

Closing the show was the ever gorgeous and gracious Kirron Kher, a perfect showstopper wearing a stunning Patola sari and dupatta.

Next up we have Shravan Kumar’s line that stood much in contrast with Shah’s traditional collection. The ghoonghat was off and the silhouettes were younger and more daring.

Shravan Kumar worked largely around candy pink as well as whites and greys and produced some breathtaking numbers, much like this one.

Next up we have this backless Avant-Garde printed gown with grey/pink bodice.

Also featuring in the was this sexy maxi skirt with contrasting godets and bikini top as well as anarkalis, gowns with ornate shrugs and figure hugging tunics over kalidaar skirts.

Yet another rather daring outfit, this time modelled by Natasha Ramachandran.

Ace adman Prahlad Kakkar and Shriya Saran walk the ramp as celebrity showstoppers for designer Shravan Kumar. Kakkar wore a grey-white sherwani, kurta and churidar.

Vivek Kumar’s collection used the textiles of Assam featuring Moonga/raw/Matka silks, as well as linen, cotton and georgette lending it a luxurious yet formal look.

It was a riot of colours at Kumar’s show as he used complex embroidery as well as zardosi, block printing and sequins works.

The line featured floor-skimming shift dresses as well as regal gowns that went from muted pinks, reds and maroon to blue, wood, rust and black.

Also featuring in his line were Matha Pattis or head bands that lent them the appearance of a goddess.
