Sensual, festive, royal: Preeti Kapoor's ethnicwear

Here's designer Preeti Kapoor's ethnicwear line from Lakme Fashion Week's first day.

Opulent, timeless and oozing old-world glamour -- that about sums up Preeti Kapoor's showing at Lakme on Day One.

Using ancient Jamawar embroidery, the designer spared no effort to ensure her ethnic garments made a mark. Luxurious fabrics like silk, net, velvet, satin and chanderi were presented in a host of rich colours like maroon, ink blue, grey, purple and brown and silhouettes were purely traditional.

Seen here is a dotted, sheer lehenga complemented by a heavily worked choli and dupatta with velour border.

Bright red scallops add character to this ethereal grey sari, as do hints of gold.

Brown sharara pants with red velvet edging are set off by a heavily embroidered jacket and dupatta.

Besides the striking mauve-orange combination, this drape stands out thanks to that stunning choli with upturned collar.

Kapoor took our breath away with this one -- from the netted neck to the paisley pattern and embroidery, it's all just as regal as can be!

She moves back to the earthier brown, once again combined with orange, for this star-dotted drape.

Another stunning kurta is set off by a velvet dupatta in rust and deep, luscious maroon.

The oranges and reds are broken up here with hints of yellow and blue -- a rather heavy-looking but pretty sari on Alesia Raut.
