Lakme Fashion Week gets off to a blazing start with young designers -- Aditi Holani, Nitin Chawla, Pronoy Kapoor, Rixi Bhatia, Jayesh Sachdev, Aiman Agha and Armaan Randhawa -- showing their collections for the very first time at a fashion week. Photographs: Rajesh Karkera
We start off with designer duo Aiman Agha and Armaan Randhawa, whose black and white collection was inspired by the owl, a creature of the night.

Prints started with vintage cars and crazy stupid images in multicolours to create very funky wear.

Rixi Bhathia and Jayesh Sachdev's menswear had soldier shirts, jackets, shorts, trousers and neckwear following the same theme.

Next up is Kolkata-based designer Aditi Holani’s collection titled Wabi-Sabi.
The fabrics ranged from silk jersey, silk linen, to silk suede, and satin.

Holani, who has trained under renowned fashion designers such as Alexander McQueen, Sophia Kokosalaki and Manish Malhotra celebrates human imperfections with her creations.

The collection had extreme detailing touches where fabric strings had a major role in highlighting the asymmetrical sleeves, necklines and fronts of dresses.

Pronoy Kapoor’s collection was inspired by the popular Hollywood blockbuster The Great Gatsby.
The bubble wraps around the heads of the models in white organza gave a dramatic edge to the collection.

From structured fabrics to fragile organza, which was textured by hand; the collection had slim skirts, sharply cut jackets, billowy blouses and stylish sheath dresses.

According Kapoor, his designs are for the 'Power Woman' who is in control of her life and work and she is not afraid of showing her dominant yet feminine side.

Nitin Chawla’s men’s wear collection The Tokyo Warrior, ‘depicts the imaginative story of a samurai warrior who lands in today’s modern world in the city of‚Tokyo.’
Models walked the ramp in armoured jackets, overcoats with interesting detailing that appeared in the form of pleats in chevron design, heavily layered and studded bomber jacket, high neck knitted pullover, car printed shirt, quilted graded Shacket, woollen lined double pocket shirt and a leather double breasted overcoat.
