Impressive or not? We get attendees at the LFW to spill the beans on their opinion regarding one of India's largest fashion events.
We caught up with Karan Dugal, a student of Retail Management and Entrepreneurship at BD Somani, Mumbai on Day One of the LFW and got him to share his views:
What is your interest in fashion?
Well, I have been a part of this industry for a while now. After my graduation in Business Management from the London School of Economics, I worked as a brand manager with Tommy Hilfiger. That's where I developed my interest in fashion.
How many seasons of Lakme Fashion Week have you attended?
I have been attending the shows for five years now. In fact I have been regularly attending all the finales.
What was it like watching a fashion show for the first time?
The first time I was here, I was amazed at the effort taken by Indian designers. The amount of hard work and detailing in the designs was commendable and kudos to the show organisers as well. I have attended shows abroad and I can say that our designers at the Lakme shows are at par with those in New York and Paris.
What is the most striking part of the LFW?
I particularly like the play of colours and the brand value they generate for young designers. Since I have been part of this industry, I know a couple of friends who are designers, some are stylists, models. That makes the show more enjoyable. I particularly enjoy the afterparty at (discotheque) China House. The music is so lively. It just ends the day on a high note.
Do you have any suggestion/vision for the industry?
Well, I think, the fashion industry in India is doing quite well. All it needs is the right boost and financial support. I personally believe that Foreign Direct Investment ie FDI in India should increase. That is the only way I think international brands will sell in India and the right exchange will happen.
