You probably weren't expecting to buy a Chanel lehenga anytime soon, but that's about to change!
On December 6, head-designer and one of fashion's best-known faces Karl Lagerfeld presented a grand showing of the label's new 'Paris-Bombay' line during the annual Chanel Metiers D'Art Show.
The venue was the Grand Palais in Paris, where guests were seated at extravagant banquent tables, between which ran the runway. Sumptous dishes were served by waiters throughout the show as models sashayed down in garments that were reflective of Indian tradition, mixed in with Chanel's trademark tweeds and pearls.
The mood was set by chandeliers, elaborate candle arrangements and the finest gold-plated cutlery and of course, the lucky few who got to attend were more than impressed -- reviews have been favourable and Lagerfeld's trademark taste for extravagance has paid off well!
Here, we bring you a few glimpses from the collection, starting with this stunning white sari-inspired dress.

Floral edge

This outfit is decidedly more Western, but the floral motif on the crops and fur-trimmed jacket drives the theme home.

Steely grey and heavy-duty metal creates a lasting impression.
White wonder

Switching back to white, Lagerfeld offers up a severe white kalidar with a heavy neckpiece.
Ethnic effect

Belted up ethnic-style, a transparent, wispy blue number with draping overtones is the cynosure of all eyes.
Dare to bare

A sight we'd never see on the Indian ramp -- a jacket with nothing worn underneath! That netted necklace is a beauty, though.
Traditional meets tweed...

With this fusion number, which has a decidedly bright appeal.
Culture couture

An Indian model wears Indian-inspired couture best! We loved this dhoti skirt and crisp jacket.
Lovely in lace

A stunning off-white lace number, teamed with a demure dupatta, dominates the runway.
Metallic muse

Olive green with a metallic sheen is quite the winner -- get a load of this tunic and churidaar pants.
Royal appeal

This ethnic jacket, embellished with strings upon strings of pearls, is quite the show stealer.
