If the grapevine is to be believed Samsung will not price the Galaxy S III Mini above Rs 21,000 to take on the competition and make it available for Indian consumers just before Diwali.
For all Samsung smartphone-lovers here's reason to cheer up. Samsung will launch a stripped-down version of its flagship Galaxy S III, aptly called Galaxy S III Mini, on November 8 in the UK.
Interestingly, technology blogs are speculating that the S III Mini could reach Indian shores on the same day or just before Diwali as India ranks as one of the topmost markets for the company.
In what seems like a battle of 'minis' in the gadget world, Samsung's launch of the S III Mini comes just a week after its California-based rival Apple -- with whom the South Korean major is locked into a number of patent disputes globally -- launched the 8-inch tablet iPad Mini.
It will be interesting to see hoe consumers take to the product especially after review reports suggesting that buyers are not too enamoured with the iPad Mini.
Spec-wise the S III MIni sports 1 GB RAM that draws juice from a dual-core 1GHz processor and will be available in 16GB and 32GB variants. The 4-inch Super Amoled screen comes with a 800 x 480 resolution. The phone, as we reported on October 9, will come loaded with a 5MP rear shooter.
Running on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and Samsung's Nature UI, the S III Mini features Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G and NFS, Bluetooth 4.0, S Beam and S Voice (the last three features debuted with the Galaxy S III), which is Samsung's answer to Apple's voice-help Siri.
Will the launch of Samsung Galaxy S III Mini before Diwali spread cheer for Indian smartphone lovers? Do you think such stripped down specs could lead to fireworks or will it turn out to be a damp squib?
