One of the most popular Indian sweets, the besan ladoo is an ideal treat for any festive occasion.
No one can resist the temptation to ask for an extra helping of the sweet and yummy besan ka ladoo that almost melts in your mouth.
Be it Diwali, Ganeshotsav or any festive occasion, the celebration in an Indian home is incomplete without these ping-pong shaped delights.
Here's how you can make it at home:
Ingredients
- 5 cups besan (gram flour)
- 1 cup rava
- 1 1/2 cups fine sugar
- 2 1/2 cups ghee
- 1/2 cup charoli blanched
- 2 tsp elaichi powdered
Method
- In a shallow frying pan, add ghee while on a low-medium flame.
- Once the ghee begins to melt, add besan bit by bit.
- Keep stirring until all the besan is coated with a layer of ghee.
- Stir till you get the aroma from the mild browning of the besan; do not burn.
- Remove from the flame.
- Add the sugar and charoli to the roasted besan and mix well.
- Check for sweetness; add more if required.
- After sugar is mixed properly, spread the same on a tray and let it cool just enough to make ping pong-sized balls with your hands.
- Once laddoos are prepared, sprinkle cardamom powder and charoli on laddoos.
- The balls should be kept with proper spacing so that they do not stick to each other on the tray and retain their shape as they dry.
Tip: Ladoos prepared with pure ghee can be stored for a month in refrigerator.
