Business channel CNBC-TV18 has released its list of B-school rankings. Find out what school stands where right here!
According to the survey conducted by market research and consulting firm Cfore in association with CNBC TV 18, TopMBA.com and Career Launcher the best B-schools to go to in India are the IIMs -- five figure in this list of ten. And even though XLRI and FMS do find a place in the top ten, their rankings have dropped.
According to a press release, 113 b-schools participated in the survey and the validation exercise was carried by a special team, which crosschecked the data by asking for necessary documents like appointment letters, balance sheets, annual report etc.
Veracity of information was also checked by the mystery auditing method.
Objective scores were obtained by evaluating b-schools against the following five broad parameters
1. Intellectual capital
2. Placement performance
3. Infrastructure and facilities
4. Industry interface
5. International linkages

Number 10: Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode

Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode or IIM-K was instituted in 1996 as the fifth IIM in India.
IIMK was instituted in 1996 by the Government of India as the 5th IIM in India.
Over the years the institute has emerged as a centre of excellence in management education and has even started two international campuses -- in Dubai and Singapore.

SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) is part of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan that offers programmes that don't just focus on professional business management but also on family business management.
The institute that is located in the Mumbai's northern suburb of Andheri also offers various short-term courses for specific needs.
Besides CNBC TV18, The Wall Street Journal, Business India and Open Magazine have also rated it amongst the top 10 b-schools in the country.
Number 8: Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi

Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi has the unique distinction of being the first business school that offered a full time MBA programme in India.
Since its inception in 1954 -- it's first set of professors were trained at Stanford -- the school has been one of the front-runners in the business of management education and is known for its marketing and finance programmes
This year it slipped two positions from last year.
Number 7: National Institute of Industrial Engineering

National Institute of Industrial Engineering or NITIE (the 'T' in the acronym stands for 'Training' that was dropped from its original name -- National Institute of Industrial Engineering) was instituted in 1963 with help of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) through the International Labour Organization (ILO). The idea then was to create skilled professionals in the country.
Besides offering fellowship programmes, NITIE has been recognised by the Indian government as one of the 15 Centres of Excellence alongside six IIMs, seven IITs and IISc
This year it jumped 10 positions from last year's 17.
Number 6: XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur

XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur is one of the oldest b-schools in India having been established in 1949 -- barely two years after Independence.
It has been consistently been ranked among the top ten Indian b-schools and its programme in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations is considered as one of the most well-recognised ones in Asia-Pacific.

Number 5: Management Development Institute, Gurgaon

Management Development Institute or MDI Gurgaon boasts of sprawling 37-acre campus and air conditioned classrooms and library.
With graduation, post graduation and fellow programmes in business management and human resources, MDI has consistently figured in the top ten b-schools in the country.
It is also one of the few b-schools that has a golf course.
It jumped four spots from last year's ranking of number 9
Number 4: Indian Institute of Management Lucknow

The fifth of the IIMs, Indian Institute of Management Lucknow is known for its many student activities and annual business conclave -- MANFEST.
Some of its illustrious alumni include Chief Economic Advisor, Prime Minister's Office KV Pratap, IPS officer and social activist Amitabh Thakur and Executive Director, ICICI Rajeev Sabharwal.
Number 3: Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta

Indian Institute of Management Calcutta or IIM-C was the first IIM to be set up in the country.
It offers several graduate, post-graduate and doctoral programmes and aims to emerge as 'an International Centre of Excellence in all facets of Management Education, rooted in Indian ethos and societal values'.
IIM-C is best known for its finance courses and is known to have an excellent reputation amongst recruiters.
In 2009-10 one of its students was offered $350,000 setting the record for the highest salary an Indian MBA was offered.

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore or IIM-B has been one of the top rated b-school since its inception. It has consistently been ranked as one of the best in Asia and is placed at number 24 in a worldwide survey of 'Universal Business Schools with major international influence'.
IIM-B counts amongst its alumni Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation Dr K Radhakrishnan, Professor of Finance, Stern School of Business at New York University, Aswath Damodaran and MD and CEO, Naukri.com, Hitesh Oberoi.

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad or IIM-A is said to be the toughest b-schools to get into across the globe.
Alma mater of authors such as Chetan Bhagat, Rashmi Bansal, cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle and management guru CK Prahlad, IIM-A has ranked as the top B-school in India according to the CNBC-TV18-Cfore survey. It retained its position from last year.
