Nitesh Salvi answers, at 2012-11-01 15:42:48Hello, From now on to be in IIT, You have to clear two exams JEE Mains & JEE Advanced. Top 1,50,000 students from JEE Mains will be aligible fro JEE Advanced. Admissions to IITs will be based only on category-wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE ADVANCED, subject to condition that such candidates are in the top 20 percentile categories of their respective class xii board. So dont focus on score and try to score maximum in your exams.
jee asked, why two exams? can you tell me how is mains different from advanced?
Nitesh Salvi answers, Both Mains and Advanced will be MCQ type exams. Your Mains and boards result will count to get into NITs and Advanced result will get you into IITs. Mains will contains problems similar to AIEEE pattern and Advanced will be based on more conceptual problems similar to previous year IIT-JEE pattern.
jee asked, thank you nitesh. what strategy would you suggest for both the exams?
Nitesh Salvi answers, cracking JEE requires clarity in basic concepts which is what board exams ask. Use the NCERT books as your concept revision tool. First complete chapter with full theory then try solving NCRT questions and then go for good questions for IIT-JEE.
harris asked, i think ISEET term is no longer used, anyway can JEE/Board be cleared without coaching ? is there any good correspondence course ?
Nitesh Salvi answers, Yes it can be cleared with coaching classes. Make a good timetable and complete one topic with theory and then try solving NCRT problem. This will help you for boards and then start solving good and conceptual problems. Don't forget that only learning chapters will not take you anywhere, it is questions that you need to answer in the final
Ravi asked, Hi ... Guys just wanted to know if JEE won,t be conducted at all??
Nitesh Salvi answers, Now on there will be two papers JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. To get into NITs JEE Mains and boards will count and to get into IITs JEE Advanced result will count after being in top 1.5 lacs in JEE Mains.

Nitesh Salvi answers, ISEET is not different from IIT-JEE. They just reduced so many exams burden. JEE Mains will be similar to AIEEE and JEE Advanced will be kind of IIT-JEE.

harris asked, you may agree the pattern is now very stressful from what you faced. uncertainity in JEE/MAIN, Uncertainity in top 20 percentile plus studying hard for both board and JEE syllabus.
Nitesh Salvi answers, See, I dont think there is any difference if you are preparing seriously for both boards and JEE. Course is same as before. If you are good enough in Physics, Chemistry and Maths then you can clear any exam.
