DU admissions: No 100 per cent cut offs this year

The upper limit cut off for Hindu College being the highest at 99.25 per cent, the cut offs for popular courses like Economics and BCom (hons) have increased marginally across leading colleges in the university this year.

Delhi University declared the first merit list for undergraduate admissions on June 26.

And the good news is that there are no 100 per cent cut offs this year.

Colleges like Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), which had declared 100 per cent cut offs last year have chosen to keep the cut off for Bachelor in Commerce (hons) programme between 96.5 and 98.5 per cent this year.

Meanwhile, Hindu College, whose last year's cut off for BCom (hons) was 95.5 per cent last year, has closed its first merit list at 96.25 per cent this year. However, the upper cut off limit at Hindu remained a staggering 99.25 per cent for its Economics (hons) programme.

Among the other leading colleges, the first cut off for Hans Raj College closed at 96.25 per cent for BCom (hons).

Science aspirants will find it equally tough with top colleges like Miranda House and Ramjas College increasing their cut offs between 2 and 5 per cent this year.

Miranda House raised its cut offs across all its science courses, with its BSc (hons) Math closing at 95 per cent.

Interestingly, the number of students who have scored above 90 percent in Delhi University has also increased from 1.55 percent in 2008 to 3.5 per cent in 2012.

In Delhi University alone, of the 8 lakh students who appeared for the class 12 exam this year, 3,000 students have scored above 95 per cent and 28,000 students have scored above 90 per cent this year.

The interviews for those who made it through the first merit list will be held between June 26 and July 8.

The second, third, fourth and fifth cut off lists which are subject to filling of seats will be declared on June 29, July 3, July 6 and July 10 respectively.
