Ninja 250 RR Mono: Kawasaki's cheapest bike coming to India

Kawasaki has unveiled a new motorcycle which has high importance for us in India as the bike is mass-market centric. Currently Kawasaki's bikes are out of reach of most because the cheapest offering in India is the Ninja 300 costing around Rs 4 lakh on-road.

Now Kawasaki plans to appeal to more buyers with the new Ninja 250 RR Mono, a bike which uses a single-cylinder engine instead of the parallel-twin used by the Ninja 250 and Ninja 300.

The Ninja RR Mono is also known as the Ninja 250SL.

The Kawasaki Ninja RR Mono is powered by a 250cc, single-cylinder engine which uses DOHC and fuel-injection. This motor belts out 28 PS of peak power at 9700 RPM and 22.6 Nm of peak torque at 8200 RPM, paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

The top speed is claimed to be 153 km/hr. The bike weighs 151 kgs and ABS isn't standard but an ABS model will also be offered.

The Kawasaki Ninja RR Mono is a full faired bike and uses a single headlight. It comes with 110 and 130 section tyres at the front and rear respectively while braking duties are taken care by petal discs at both ends.

The fuel tank has a capacity of 11-litres. The RR Mono uses a tube type diamond frame and is smaller than the Ninja 300 in terms of dimensions and wheelbase.

Kawasaki has made the Ninja RR Mono for emerging markets and India is one of them. The company will launch this bike in the country later this year, pricing it upwards of Rs 2 lakh. If Kawasaki manufactures this quarter-litre bike in India, it can price it aggressively thereby attracting more buyers to its fold.
