With entry level performance bike market gaining scope in the Indian market, most of the bike auto majors have let go off the premium tags, have strapped on their helmets and entered the streets.

The segment sees bikes from the 200-500cc and brands like KTM, Kawasaki, Honda and even Royal Enfield who have been the contenders of this thrilling segment. KTM has been a ruler in the segment when it comes to the European market and now with Bajaj, the company is mulling to achieve the same in India.

The segment sees growth with the upcoming supernova launches about to happen in the forthcoming months which are surely going to change this segment for good.

The 2014 upcoming bikes in the 200-500cc segment are

Bajaj Pulsar 375

Pulsar's role in the success of Bajaj is quite unlike any other model and now the company is about to roll out a bigger better version of the model. The 375cc engine loaded Pulsar will be launched as a full faired racer. The specifications are not yet revealed; no doubt, the market cannot wait to see what it will look like. As for the price, get ready to cut a cheque of somewhere around Rs 2 lakh if you are looking forward to own this sport series Pulsar.

Royal Enfield has always been a hot property in the Indian market and the Continental GT will be revived for the streets. The bike that brought in an entirely new era of Cafe bike and is called as Cafe Racer, was launched in the year 1965. The 2013 new version of Continental GT is highly anticipated and will come out with an advanced 535cc engine which is likely to carry a price tag of Rs 2.5 lakh. 

The highly acclaimed Indian auto major, Mahindra, is going to roll out Mojo roadster. The bike has not been developed here; rather, it comes with fine Italian artillery and will make use of a 292cc, liquid cooled engine.

Mojo was announced pretty early in the Indian market, 2010 to be precise and it has taken three years for the brand to actually commit a roll out. The price tag is likely to be around Rs 1.8 lakh; Mahindra is relying on Indian components to keep the price competitive.

Hyosung GV250 is spawned on the lines of the GV650 dubbed as Aquila Pro.

The GV250 bike will be launched around the end of the year and will come with classy looks and definitely has all the features to fulfill the needs of a pocket-friendly cruiser in India. Albeit, the catch here will be the price as the company needs to tag Aquila aka Hyosang GV250 around Rs 2 lakh to claim that title.

If the launch happen as per plans, then Suzuki GW250 would have been in the Indian market long ago. The yet-to-be-launched bike from the Japanese auto major features in this list with its 250cc engine and will likely be a naked vroomer from the company. Introduced at the 15th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, the company is also planning for a semi faired version dubbed as GW250S. The company will launch both these bikes in India by the early 2014 at a price range of Rs 1.8-2.5 lakh in India.

Harley Davidson sees the Indian market as a niche one and is therefore, developing a 500cc cruiser specially to meet the Indian buyers' needs. As per the company, the bike is at an advanced stage and is in the test runs. This 500cc cruiser has not been named yet but the expected launch date is zeroed in for late 2014. It has been spawned for the Indian commuters need and the price tag will be around Rs 4 lakh.

After capturing the European market, KTM is sizzling the Indian streets as well. The performance of Duke 200 and 390 has been tremendous; riding high on that success, the company has announced the launch of the RC series based on these bikes.

The KTM RC390R is spawned on the Duke 390 while the KTM RC250R will come up with an entirely new 250cc engine which has not been seen in the company models. The launch will likely happen in the year 2014 and the bike is expected to cost around Rs 1.6 lakh for RC250R and Rs 2.5 lakh for the RC390R.

Hero has recently come up with three new powertrains in its assembly, the 100cc, 110cc and 250cc. The most powerful 250cc engine has been manufactured to power the 2014 Karizma ZMR. The company is likely to roll out the bike by early 2014. With almost a year to go by, the price tag of the bike may vary according to norms; however, as of now, the market expects it to be tagged at around Rs 1.5 lakh.
