4 reasons why we like Bajaj Discover 150S

The bike, a newer version of Discover, will begin sales August 11.

Bajaj Auto Limited has introduced yet another version of Discover, christened Discover 150S. It is available at various dealerships but sales will commence only August 11 -- the date of launch. The price of the bike is much competitive at Rs 58,671, the price of the base variant.

The bike has a disc brake variant too that is priced at Rs 61,941 (on-road, Pune). With subtle and impressive tailoring to the 125cc version, the company has crafted this all new 150cc Discover to storm the market.

1. Engine and performance

Bajaj Discover 150S houses an all new 144.8cc, 4-valve, DTS-i engine that is faster and efficient than the old 2-valve 150cc engine.

The mill is mated with an all up 5-speed gearbox for smooth touring and quick maneuvering on the city roads. Using a carburetor typre fuel system, it is tuned to produce 14.3bhp at an acceleration rate of 8500rpm with the net torque of 12.75Nm at 6500rpm.

Standing among other Discover models, it is expected to be as fuel efficient as possible as this series takes down every single opponent with its performance.

The company also claims it to attain a top speed of 110kmph. The engine has fine qualities to decorate its own market graph.

Bajaj Discover 150S, just like other Discover variants, is designed on a Semi-Double Cradle frame that has set new standards for the company and has added more points to the quality of the company's products.

The manufacturer has used a couple of telescopic, hydraulic forks at the front and nitrox mono-shock with swing-arm at the rear to comfort its riders.

The bike is coupled with 80/100-17 Tubeless, Unidirectional tyre at the front and 100/90-17 Tubeless, Unidirectional at the rear.

The front tyre brings an option of a front disc brake, while the company has kept drum brakes standard for both the wheels.

The overall dimensions of the machine are 2038mm x 714mm x 1070mm (l x w x h). Seat height of the bike is 795mm, wheelbase is 1305mm and the minimum ground clearance is 165mm that keeps the ride impressive throughtout the journey.

Bajaj Discover 150S is designed on the new platform that is meaner and aggressive than the old one, having less attractive aesthetics. This variant can be resembled with Discover 125ST as 150S, which sports a mono-shock suspension similar to 125ST.

Furthermore, the bike looks exactly similar to its other siblings, as it holds a muscular tank, better aerodynamics, smarter headlight, more edges, curvy detailings to captivate you.

The rear tyre of the machine has been sized according to the 150cc bike standards and has been comprehended to 100/90-17-inch Tubeless tyre. The bike has pure genes of a star with its stylish Avatar and rushmore engine.

Bajaj Discover 150S carries all the basic features like eye-pleasing outfit, mon-shock suspension, wider rear tyre, styligh graphic, bulky tank, clear lens indicators and chrome plated muffler.

However, it lacks the incoporation of a digital instrumentation, as it sports the conventional analog instrumentation that displays speedometer, odometer, trip-meter and fuel gauge.

Market response

With so many positive elements, the bike seems to have a happy time in the market but due to its conventional Discover styling with no add-ons, it may face some issues from prospective buyers. However with appealing design, Discover 150S will jump the hurdle with ease. Discover 150S's affordable price plus its performance is likely to seal the deal for the bike.
