The new R15 has the same power as before. The 150cc engine develops 17PS @ 8500rpm and 15nm @ 7500rpm.

Add to that, Yamaha has managed to increase the weight by a full five kilograms, reducing the power to weight of the bike. However Yamaha claims to have tweaked the ECU to increase acceleration and straight line speed of the new R15.

The bike also features new drivetrain and Yamaha expects riders to witness improved throttle response and easier clutch operation.

The R15 now features a long swingarm, made entirely of aluminum, which is expected to increase stability of the bike.

The tyres are now wider both at the front. The front is now 90 section, while the rear are much wider 130 section (wider then even the Pulsar, Karizma and the likes).

However, it is uncertain if the tyres are as grippy as the old R15's MRFs, which were specially made for the R15. A bigger disc brake of 220mm has been put in the new R15.
