The BAI had withdrawn Gutta and her doubles partner, Ashwini Ponnappa, from the Denmark Open.

The BAI's disciplinary committee had recommended a life ban on Gutta for trying to stop some players of her franchise, Krrish Delhi Smashers, from playing a match against Banga Beats in the Indian Badminton League in August.

Gutta, who was once married to the Arjuna awardee Chetan Anand and has been linked to former India cricket captain Mohd Azaruddin, is a spunky young lady with an interesting family tree.

Born in Wardha, Maharashtra and raised in Hyderabad, Gutta's father, Kranti is Indian while mother, Yelan is Chinese. Yelan came to India along with her grandfather, a Gandhian to visit the Sevagram Ashram, Wardha, translated the Mahatma's autobiography and other works into Mandarin before eventually staying back.
