What: An international competition for the most innovative entrepreneurial idea to improve global nutrition.
Details
~ Launched by Ashoka Changemakers and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the competition -- Improved Nutrition: Solutions through Innovation -- is open to individuals and organisations (charitable organizations, private companies, or public entities).
~ The three winners will receive USD 5000, international media exposure and other benefits.
~ Five entrants will be chosen by GAIN to attend, all-expenses paid, the GAIN Business Alliance Global Forum in May 2010, where they will have the opportunity to present their solutions to investors.
Explaining the purpose of the competition, Charles Brown, executive director of Changemakers, said, "The best ideas may lie in the creative use of technology, innovative public education programs, ground breaking nutrition products or other entrepreneurial approaches."
Marc Van Ameringen, executive director of GAIN, felt that solutions, with the potential for growth and scale are likely to come from community members from all corners of the globe and local, grassroots organisations.
