Announcing the Chevening Gurukul Scholarships 2010

What: The Chevening Gurukul Scholarships for the academic year 2010-11 are open for applications until January 20, 2010.

About the scholarships

  • It supports a short-term professional course: Gurukul Scholarship for Leadership and Excellence at the renowned London School of Economics.
  • It is a unique 12-week advanced leadership programme, created specifically for India's future leaders.
  • This programme is particularly highly regarded by mid-career professionals, who are already rising to the top in their chosen field, but are keen to develop new skills and new perspectives.
  • It was launched in 1997 to mark 50 years of India's independence and since then has become a prestigious name, attracting high-calibre applicants.

The course will run between September - December 2010.

The application is open for Indian passport holders only.

Courses offered under Chevening for 2010-11 include:

  • Chevening Gurukul Scholarships: 12-week advanced leadership programme
  • Chevening Fellowships: Nominated 12-week courses that focus on particular subjects aligned to the FCO's strategic framework.
  • Chevening Jointly-funded Scholarships: These are aimed at potential scholars from varied fields such as culture, political research, sports, engineering and technology, bio-diversity and conservation, international journalism, diplomacy, etc.

Each scholarship covers the following:

Full programme fees, living expenses for the duration of the scholarship for a maximum period of 12 weeks, return airfare from India to the UK and UK student visa fees.
