The unconventional and freckle-faced Adwoa Aboah is giving top models like Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber stiff competition!
Supermodels like the Hadid sisters, Gigi and Bella, supermodel-in-the-making Kaia Gerber (who also happens to be supermodel Cindy Crawford's daughter), and activist-model Winnie Harlow were in the race for the Model of the Year title at the British Fashion Awards on December 4. But it was the edgy and unconventional Adwoa Aboah who impressed the British Fashion Council more.
Aboah walked away with the honor that celebrates 'the global impact of a model, male or female, who over the last 12 months has dominated the industry.'
Aboah, as the British Vogue -- which featured her on the cover in November -- pointed out, has had an outstanding year, nabbing lucrative advertising campaigns, walking almost every major runway show, and even appearing in the famous Pirelli calendar.
She is also well recognised for openly talking about mental health issues and her women empowerment network, Gurls Talk. Vogue notes, 'In fact, using her platform to boast a freedom of ideals and a breaking with the norms has helped her evolve into a lodestar to follow.'
