The hairstylist who made her boyfriend wear a dress on the ramp gets candid with Rediff.com's Anita Aikara.
'My boyfriend doesn't like me to wear something.'
'My boyfriend doesn't want me to cut my hair.'
This is the usual client rant at hairstylist Sapna Bhavnani's salon, Mad O Wot.
So, she decided to reverse the thought process with an Instagram series 'My Girlfriend Says', with her partner Kabir Singh.
The duo posts pics with captions that read: 'My girlfriend gave me permission to grow my hair. I'm so happy.'
In another post, Kabir is seen wearing a bra. The caption says: 'My girlfriend hates wearing a bra, I can see why #burnthebra #letthemhangfree #truestory.'
Keeping up with the theme of their series, Kabir walked the Lakme Fashion Week ramp on Day Two, wearing a dress.
The duo were the showstoppers for Anaam in collaboration with Rangsutra Crafts.
Uploading the pic on Instagram, he wrote: 'My girlfriend made me wear a dress and walk the ramp for Lakme Fashion Week. I loved it.'
Kabir was joined on the ramp by Sapna, who wowed in a leather bralette paired with a pair of lehariya pants and a matching jacket.
Commenting about the show that highlighted gender fluid fashion, the hairstylist said: "If a woman is comfortable wearing a sari, there is nothing wrong with that.
"If you are comfortable wearing a bra, there's nothing wrong with that.
"What I don't like is this fake feminism that's been going around where you need to be naked and that's when you are liberated."
She added, "My walk at LFW was not around feminism at all. Kabir wanted me to show my ink and that's why I removed my jacket."
When quizzed about whether it was a challenge walking the ramp, Sapna said, "If you can maneuver your way through Mumbai streets, the ramp is nothing.
Usually always spotted in black silhouettes, Sapna decided to add a fun twist to her ramp look with her handloom cotton and tie-dye blue separates.
Titled Bandhan, the collection was inspired by the bandhani fabric.
"For the last one year, I had coloured my hair pink. That was my silent revolution. All my life I hated pink because that was associated with being girly. This year I decided to colour my hair blue," Sapna revealed.
Sharing a pic of her blue hair on Instagram, she wrote: "My boyfriend loved the pink hair so I coloured it blue. #hefellinloveagain #truestory."
