When was the last time you got complimented for your style at work?

Investing in a smart pair of clothes not only helps you get noticed, but also speaks volumes about the kind of person you are.

Here are some tips to make the right moves in your career.

Simplify your look

When it comes to tailoring, many men want to experiment with the accessories.

To keep your office look formal and stylish, you do not need a tie pin, collar bar, pocket square sagging out of every pocket.

2019 is all about being natural.

Keep the pairing minimal and let the suit do the talking.

If you wan't a simple look, ditch the pocket square and opt for a plain tie with a well fitted shirt.

Forget 'Slim Fit'

'Slim fit' has ruled conventional clothing over the past decade.

But it's on its way out, especially when it comes to a smart attire.

Unfortunately the term 'slim fit' tends to be deciphered as 'too tight' and nobody wants a suit they can’t even do up.

A suit should be suitable, not contouring.

So look for wider cuts that balance your body shape rather than constrain it.

Go for earthy colours

Blue and greys will always be the most prominent options in menswear, but a vibrant suit can make for a striking choice.

This year, if you are in a dilemma, stick to earthy colours of greens and browns, which are pleasing for most skin tones and keep the rest of the look simple to allow the suit to take centre stage.

Smart knitwear

Last but not the least, and the most operative way of altering your formal attire is smart knitwear.

Simply switch your shirt for a fine gauge knit -- that can be a crew or a roll neck.

This helps to strip away the business-like implications of the suit, and gives off a modern look and feel.
