Wondering what were the big style takeaways from the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016?
Take a look!
1. Frills out, fringe in!
Earlier this year, former Victoria's Secret Angel, Heidi Klum was the cynosure of all eyes when she strode the red-carpet at the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards dressed in sexy, low-cut, shimmering fringe Marchesa gown.
Heidi's fashion outing in fringe set the trend for summer.
"Fringe is really dominating the global runway," reveals fashion designer Nikhil Thampi.
This summer we’re taking inspiration from the free-spirited Bohemian fashion of the 70s.
As the temperature rises, ditch your woolens for a lovely shimmer dress with a fringe hemline like Lisa Haydon.
A little imagination goes a long way when it comes to fashion, doesn’t it?
You can be creative and instead of attaching fringe to a dress or skirt, try it on a bag like Spanish model Marisa Jara.
2. Get some pastels
Pastels have been around for a few seasons now, but it is booming this summer.
Blush pink, baby blue and buttercup yellow; these colours are sure to cool you down on a hot sunny day.
You can keep it short and simple with a pastel yellow dress like this one!
Or look pretty in peach with long flowing skirts.
Fashion designer Sweta from Garo says, "For summer the colour palette will include a lot of pastels.
"Pastels combined with white work really well and gives the outfit a fresh feel. As for the fabrics, silk and cotton work really well in summer."
In the mood for florals?
Try teaming pastel floral skirts with matching crop-tops. You can also tie your hair in a half-knot, as its comfortable and trendy.
Headed for the beach! Then don't be afraid to go bold.
Be the best dressed beach babe in this pastel swimwear.
3. Maxis and dresses
This summer, printed maxis seem to be bursting through in a big way.
Maxis and flip-flops make for the ideal summer outfit, and it's soon becoming a wardrobe staple for the summers.
And they happen to be a favourite of the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, who customised the maxi by altering it.
4. Wear some Kimono sleeves
It is kimono sleeves for the summer. The length of the pants is going shorter, and everything is about comfort wear.
You can also choose to dress in a Kimono wrap dress too!
5. Pyjama suits
Summer is the time to unleash your casual self and power suits are being replaced by comfortable pyjama suits.
Rixi Bhatia from The Quirkbox feels that pyjama suits will work well for the season.
"As for fabric, it's about 100 percent cotton and chanderi. The colour palette is moving towards vintage colours," she adds.
6. Prints you can wear to work
Thinking of investing in a pant suit, then settle for a printed one.
Rest assured that it will carry you through the summer, you'll be able to make a fashionable statement in it too.
If you don't fancy wearing a suit, try prints on your blouse like Maria Goretti.
Prints can be worn on just about anything, including your cloth potli!
Fashion designer Priyangsu from Garo says, "The kind of prints varies with each season. And this time I think that the prints are getting bolder. The prints are either mono-colour or two colours."
Still confused how to wear prints?
Take a cue from Alia Bhatt.
7. Denims are here to stay
Here's some good news for people who can't get over denims.
Give the good old ones a fresh twist by wearing them with a sari like Mini Mathur.
8. Sheer
Sheer is good for summer and works brilliantly on dupattas and saris.
If you fancy a sheer sari. Then this one is meant for you!
9. Shararas
Divya Reddy, a fashion designer from Hyderabad says, "In summer you'd like to wear something more comfortable, especially something like ghararas or shararas.
Wear a pair of white shararas, and you'll surely stand out in the crowd.
You can choose the cotton ones for comfort.
10. Crop tops with lehengas
High-waist lehengas and crop tops, along with a drape that looks like a dupatta is what fashion designer Divya Reddy advices for the summer bride.
She says, "They are something that will be easy to wear for brides this summer, and they look dreamy too!"
If you're in the mood to experiment, try an off-shoulder crop top with a floral lehenga!
It works well with the season.
