(Goodbye selfie stick!)

Remember that time you struggled to get e-v-e-r-y-o-n-e in the frame and couldn't?

Ellen DeGeneres probably empathises with that feeling:

And imagine what poor Jared Leto must have gone through?! Imagine being left out of the most epic selfie of our times!

(Here he is, trying very, very hard to squeeze into the frame over Jennifer Lawrence's shoulder!)

All of that though will be a thing of the past all thanks to this nifty device: a wearable drone that can take selfies!

You read that one right -- wearable. selfie-taking. drone!

Developed by Christoph Kohstall, a doctoral candidate at Stanford University, Nixie that made its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on Tuesday sounds exactly like the thing that'll take selfies to the next level, literally!

The fact that it won half a million dollars at Intel's Make It Wearable contest might just ensure that it won't be in the prototype stage for too long.

Now, drones with built-in cameras have been around in the consumer market for a while.

In fact you could get yourself one for as little as Rs 4,500 in India!

But what sets Nixie apart is that it comes with foldable bands that go around your wrist.

With a gesture, Nixie flies off your wrist, takes a picture of you and returns to you once the picture is taken.

Think a camera on a boomerang and you'll get what we're saying.

As journalists, we can think of a million possibilities where we could use this one but think of capturing a moment when you're climbing a cliff, or riding a bicycle or motorbike... or trying to take a group selfie!

There's no doubt that Nixie, when it gets into commercial production, will have many takers. Including perhaps Ellen.

Take heart Jared. You won't be cropped out the next time around.
