If you need a smartphone to message and call, this is the phone to buy. A lot of focus has been levied on build and quality, which goes missing on most of the other smartphones.

Standard candy bar structure fits beautifully in the hand. It is not your paper the phone but this makes the phone feel more solid and durable in your hand. I am a big fan of anything that gives me confidence in my product.

The look is clean and very stylish. The charging port and the audio jack are on the top of the phone. The volume rocker is on the right hand side of the phone with the power / hold button below it. The buttons have very good feedback and are easy to reach. The standard soft touch keys for navigation are very intuitive and easy to use.

User Interface

The A6000 runs on Android 4.2 KitKat but has its own themes that give it unique colours and shades for the default apps. A flick of the settings tab allows for the theme to be changed. I wasn't particularly fond of any of the themes on offer but there are loads to choose from and these are fun to a particular age group.

Performance

The phone has 8GB RAM and a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor. But let me disregard the specs and tell you that the phone was decent on speed. I wasn't expecting more but there was nothing about the performance that impressed me as such. The inbuilt speakers are great for use in a car or alone in your room. It will definitely drown out in a crowd but the speakers are good for individual use. The headphones provided by the company are not the best in the world and you will have to invest in a pair of earphones.

Gaming

I played Asphalt 8 on the phone and there is no lag or speed problems. It can handle gaming on its own. However be sure to switch all of the background apps off, a notification in the middle of the game can make things a bit slow. Let us be honest that this is a low budget smartphone.

Camera

Lenovo has put an 8 MP camera on the phone but decidedly not the best camera out there. It does well with pictures of people and parties (with good light) but any detail shots are blurry and lacklustre. Even low light shots are decent.

If you are looking for a solid phone with good features at this price point (Rs 6,999) this phone is for you. The other phones look elegant but they do not inspire confidence. It must be said that we did not like the in-built launcher but that is easily fixed through launcher download. If you need a smartphone to message and call, this is the phone to buy. A lot of focus has been levied on build and quality, which goes missing on most of the other smartphones.
