Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 finally arrives; Price starts at Rs 1.18 lakh
The much anticipated and most powerful weapon from Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, was officially launched in India today. The Pune-based manufacturer has been continuously improving its best-selling machine and expects a good response from its home market. Suffixed with 'RS', that stands for Racing Sport, the bike comes with power-packed features along with breathtaking looks.
The super stylish bike is flaunted as the fastest Pulsar yet by the manufacturer, claiming a top speed of 141 kmph.
At the launch event held in Mumbai, Eric Vas, Bajaj Motorcycle Business President said, "The company has spent a lot of time working behind the scenes, to perfect the RS 200; testing and ironing out all possible problem areas before bringing the new-generation Pulsar into showrooms, with a view to provide riders with a reliable motorcycle from the word go".
Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 is equipped with a 199.5cc, four-stroke, liquid cooled mill that churns out a peak power of 24.2bhp at 9,750rpm, with a maximum torque of 18.6Nm at 8,000rpm.
The fuel injected six-speed mill is the same that serves its naked sibling, Pulsar 200NS. The bike comes with a super stylish headlamp section incorporated with daytime running LEDs and dual projector headlamps.
Bajaj has fitted 300mm front and 230mm rear disc brakes on the bike, which are further blessed with an optional Bosch single channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), making it the first Pulsar ever to come with this safety feature.
Its suspension system includes telescopic forks at the front and Nitrox monoshock set up at the rear. Clip-on handlebars, sporty split seat, trimmed muffler and a refreshed instrument cluster are other applaudable highlights of this bike.
Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 has started rolling out to dealerships already and its bookings have commenced at Rs 5,000 with expected deliveries in the next two weeks.
The RS 200 will come in two colours: Red and Yellow. The ABS version is priced at Rs 1.30 lakh and the basic version sports a price tag of Rs 1.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
With its launch, India's best-selling sportsbike now stands at the doorstep of KTM RC 200, Honda CBR150R, Yamaha R15 and Karizma ZMR for tough competition.
