Full-faired RC bikes from KTM offered at mouth-watering prices, says Faisal Ali Khan.

KTM has launched two new bikes in India, the RC 200 and RC 390.

While these are new bikes, they share a lot with their Duke siblings, KTM with the help of Bajaj is now sharing platforms across motorcycles to boost profit and offer aggressive pricing.

The RC 200 is priced at Rs 1.60 lakh while the RC 390 costs Rs. 2.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Both bikes are on sale across 140 dealerships in the country and bookings are open.

The RC 200 and RC 390 differ from the Duke 200 and Duke 390 respectively in multiple ways.

The RC bikes get a new design with full fairing, twin projector headlights, daytime running lights, revised seating position, higher saddle height, clip-on handle bars, new forged foot-pegs, new tail light, new cowl like pillion seat and turn indicators on the rear-view mirrors.

The RC bikes also get a lower suspension travel at the front and a smaller fuel tank of 9.5 litres.

The chassis sees some revision too but the engine remains unaltered.

The RC 200 is powered by a 199.5cc, single-cylinder engine which generates 25 PS of power and 19.2 Nm of torque, matched to a 6-speed gearbox.

The RC 390 is propelled by a 373.2cc motor which belts out 43.5 PS and 35 Nm, coupled to a 6-speed gearbox.

The RC bikes weigh slightly more than their Duke counterparts.

Both bikes use a Trellis frame and WP suspension.

The exhaust is an underbelly unit while the instrument cluster is all digital, showcasing a range of vital information.

The RC 390 gets Metzeler tyres while the RC 200 uses MRF.

Just like the Duke 390, the RC 390 also gets ABS as standard.

The RC 200 competes with the Honda CBR250R while the RC 390 fights it out with the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
