Here's why the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 rocks!

Being a high-end bike, Yamaha YZF-R1 is supposed to be more powerful, safer and user-friendly than before.

The YZF-R1, Yamaha's ultimate racing machine was unveiled at EICMA Milan, November 3. Yamaha MotoGP star rider -- Valentino Rossi came riding on the all new 2015 YZF-R1, while his teammate -- Jorge Lorenzo drove in YZF-R1M.

Yamaha with the help of these two MotoGP riders unveiled the two track machines.

Putting more practicality by adding new features to the machine, Yamaha has moved on to the next level of performance bikes. Being a high-end bike, Yamaha YZF-R1 is supposed to be more powerful, safer and user-friendly than before.

The manufacturer has fit in features like six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) providing never experienced before 3D controlling, anti-lock braking system, electronic control technology, launch control, quick shifter, front wheel lift control, slide control and banking sensitive traction control.

LED headlamps are equipped for rider's convenience at night while a TFT screen displays various details about the manoeuvrability. GPS data can be downloaded and ride settings can be uploaded to R1 via CCU (Communication Control Unit), which is an optional feature.

The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 is charged by a new 998cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled 16V, inline-4 engine that incorporates conventional cross plane technology.

Christened as CP4, the mill is connected to a 10.5l airbox, titanium exhaust, titanium fracture-split connecting rods and highly advanced fuel injection system.

Furthermore, it is tuned to generate a maximum power of 200hp at an acceleration rate of 13,500rpm simultaneously produced with an utmost torque of 112.4Nm at 10,500rpm.

The 6-speed gearbox coupled with the engine works brilliantly with a slipper clutch and helps the rider control and perform well on both, track and street.

Yamaha YZF-R1 is enveloped on a diamond type frame that sets the following dimensions: 2,055mm x 690mm x 1,150mm (l x w x h). The wheelbase of the new version is 1405mm, seat height is 855mm and the ground clearance is 130mm.

With a 17 litre fuel tank capacity and an oil capacity of 3.9 litre, the weight of the bike is 199kg. It is also bestowed with fully adjustable 43mm inverted front forks and an adjustable link suspension with aluminum swing-arm at the rear designed by KYB.

Providing sufficient traction and grip on the terrain, the new R1 moves on 120/70 17-inch front and 190/55 17 inch rear tyre. The tyres further encircle ultra light cast magnesium alloys that sport dual 320mm front discs and a 220mm rear disc brake.

The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 is presented in three attractive colours -- Yamaha Blue/White, Raven Black and Red/White; the bike is priced at $16,490 for the US market.
