The Monster 1200 R is the most aggressive and powerful naked bike to come from Ducati and is capable of reaching speeds beyond 250 km/hr, says Indian automobile website MotorBeam.
Ducati has officially unveiled the 2016 Monster 1200 R at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the most aggressive and most sophisticated addition to the Monster family while also being the automaker's most powerful naked super bike.
Power on the 2016 Ducati Monster 1200 R comes from the same 1200cc Testastretta twin-cylinder engine that churns out 158 HP of power and 131.4 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
The naked Monster is capable of doing the 0-100 km/hr acceleration in 3.2 seconds and can reach speeds beyond 250 km/hr.
Complementing the added power is a host of sophisticated equipment including a new suspension setup at the front and rear, Ohlins steering damper, forged wheels, new tail piece and carbon fibre components for weight reduction. The super naked 1200 R comes with a dry weight of just 180 kgs, making for an overwhelming power-to-weight ratio.
The tyres are also upgraded to Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tyres that offer maximum traction and facilitate extreme lean angles on the Ducati Monster 1200 R.
Keeping the rider safe are a host of safety tech including traction control with three different riding modes, a Bosch ABS unit and Brembo brakes.
The 2016 Ducati Monster 1200 R is available in two colour options -- red and black, while the design is quintessentially Italian and is a head turner in every sense.
The pillion seat though has been replaced by a cowl and adds to the beefy appearance of the naked super bike. This motorcycle is headed to India next year.
